There are many new database ideas being promoted include Microservices, NoSQL, IoT, Kubernetes, Machine Learning, Eventual Consistency, Blockchain JSON, Big Data, Cloud, Kafka, Autonomous, Engineered Systems, In-Memory, Sharding, and Specialty Databases. Some are Good and deserve to be adopted, others are Bad or even Ugly and should be avoided at all costs. In this session, Dominic Giles and Maria Colgan examine 10 of these trends and share their candid opinion on them and if they should be adopted.
